Neither is inherently better. What matters is which one fits your actual work experience and career goal.
A 1-year MBA is built for candidates with several years of work experience who already know their target role and don't need a summer internship to break into a new field. A 2-year MBA includes that internship, which matters more if you have limited experience or are switching industries entirely. The format follows the need, not the other way around.
A 2-year program's summer internship functions as a low-risk trial for a career switch — many students convert that internship into their eventual job. A 1-year program skips this because it assumes you already have the relevant experience the internship would otherwise provide.
A 1-year program's total fee is often comparable to or higher than a 2-year one's, just compressed — the real cost comparison should include opportunity cost (a year of salary vs. two) alongside the fee itself.
Talk to alumni from both formats before deciding — zero commission from any college.
