The colleges we most need Real Ones from

Students are asking about hundreds of colleges. For most, nobody who actually went there is available to answer.

Beyond Brochure Team · Updated August 2026

Students search for honest answers about specific colleges every day, and for most colleges in India nobody who actually attended is available to answer. Below is how we decide which colleges we are actively recruiting Real Ones from, and why the list probably includes yours.

How we pick the list

It is not a ranking. It is a gap: colleges where students are asking questions and no verified alumnus is available to answer them. A well-known college that already has three Real Ones may not appear. A regional college with none will.

Question volume

How often students ask about this college relative to how many Real Ones can answer.

Zero coverage

Colleges with no verified alumnus at all — the largest category by far.

Specialisation gaps

A college may have Real Ones from finance but none from operations or HR.

Recency

A 2015 batch view does not answer questions about placements now.

The colleges nobody is covering

The obvious names attract attention. The real shortage is everywhere else — regional private colleges, state universities, tier-2 business schools and newer institutes. These are where most Indian students actually study, and where independent information is hardest to find.

If you studied somewhere that rarely appears in national rankings, you are more useful here, not less. Students considering your college have almost nobody honest to ask.

Specialisation and batch year matter too

Coverage is not just about the college. A student asking about the marketing specialisation gets little from a finance alumnus, and someone asking about placements this year gets little from a batch that graduated a decade ago. If your college is already represented, your specialisation or batch year probably is not.

What answering actually involves

The realistic version

  1. Students book a session; you set your own rate and your own hours
  2. Most questions are specific — placements, culture, fees, whether the brochure matched reality
  3. You are not asked to sell the college, or any college
  4. No college pays us, so nothing you say needs to please anyone

Why this matters more than it sounds

A student choosing wrong loses years and lakhs. Most of what they can find is either a brochure or a review they cannot trace — see verified alumni reviews vs paid reviews. A single honest conversation with someone who actually attended changes that.
