Recent graduates make the best Real Ones

A 2015 answer does not describe 2026. Recency is the qualification, and recent graduates are least likely to volunteer.

Recent graduates are often the most useful Real Ones on the platform, and the least likely to volunteer. Placement realities, teaching quality and campus culture change fast — a 2015 answer does not describe 2026. If you graduated in the last few years, you know things a senior alumnus genuinely cannot tell a student.

Why recency beats seniority here

Seniority is valuable for questions about long careers. It is much less useful for the questions students actually ask, which are overwhelmingly about now: what this year's placements looked like, whether that department is still strong, what the fees are really like once you add everything up.

Someone ten years out remembers a college that has since changed faculty, curriculum and recruiter mix. You remember the one that exists.

The objections, honestly answered

"I am not senior enough"

Seniority is not what is being asked for. Recency is, and you have more of it than anyone.

"I did not go to a famous college"

Most students do not either — and those colleges have almost nobody available to ask.

"My experience was mixed"

Mixed is the useful kind. Uniformly positive accounts are already abundant.

"I do not have time"

No minimum commitment. You set hours, take sessions when it suits, pause whenever.

What you know that you are discounting

Things a student cannot find anywhere else

  1. Which specialisations at your college are genuinely strong versus nominally offered
  2. What the placement process actually felt like, and who really recruited
  3. Which costs the fee structure did not mention
  4. What you would do differently if you were choosing again
  5. Whether the thing that worried you before joining turned out to matter

None of that appears in a brochure or a ranking table. All of it changes a decision.

You are also closest to the anxiety

You made this decision recently enough to remember what it felt like to not know — which makes you better at answering than someone for whom it is a distant memory. Students consistently find recent graduates easier to ask the slightly embarrassing questions.
